What Plast-aid sticks to:
- ◄What does Plast-aid stick to?
- Plast-aid bonds things together in two different ways, Chemically and Mechanically. Plast-aid chemically fuses to many plastics (ABS, acrylic, PVC) and not others (Teflon, PE, PP). Plast-aid mechanically bonds to rough surfaces such as wood, concrete, brick, etc.
- ▼What is a Chemical Bond?
- Plast-aid chemically fuses to compatible plastic on a molecular level, which creates a very strong bond even when the surface is smooth. Plast-aid chemically fuses to many plastics (ABS, acrylic, PVC) and not others (Teflon, PE, PP).
- ◄ What is a Mechanical Bond?
- Plast-aid mechanically bonds to rough surfaces or where the joint provides an interference fit, and they do not have to be chemically compatible to work.
- ◄What is the difference between a Chemical and a Mechanical Bond?
- Material that chemically bonds can join very smooth surfaces. While a mechanical bond must be rough to work.
- ◄What is an Interference fit?
- It is a connection in which some part is completely encased in Plast-aid and can not pull out of.
- ▼What if I don't know what type of plastic I have?
- Perform the Plast-aid sticky test. Use a drop of Plast-aid Liquid, apply a small amount to a discrete area of your fix. If it becomes slightly tacky, you have a compatible plastic for a chemical bond.

How to use Plast-aid:
- ◄How do I prep my fix?
- Remove any debris or barrier. Clean and prime with Plast-aid Liquid.
- ◄How do I mix Plast-aid?
- To use your kit up evenly use 2 parts powder to 1 part liquid. However the exact ratio is not critical. Always mix wet and drippy. Some customers seem to use up the liquid faster than the powder, so we provide the liquid for sale in the web store.
- ▼When do I apply Plast-aid?
- For the strongest bond, always apply Plast-aid liquidy. Build up layers as it thickens to give the repair strength. Plast-aid can be applied over itself when you need more than one batch for a fix.
- ◄ What color is Plast-aid?
- Plast-aid’s natural color is off-white, similar to the color of skim milk./dd>
- ◄Can Plast-aid be colored?
- Plast-aid can be colored with Plast-aid Pigments, artist acrylic, or wood stain just after it has been mixed. Add color one drop at a time. Be aware that too much color can change the chemistry and cause Plast-aid to not cure properly.
- ◄How do I cast with Plast-aid?
- When casting with Plast-aid, you want to start poring it into the mold at its most liquidy state. You can use all types of molding materials like plaster, clay, Latex, etc. Be sure to use a release agent like an oil spray or petroleum jelly before casting if you are wanting to separate Plast-aid from the mold.
- ▼How do I glue with Plast-aid?
- When you are wanting to glue two pieces together, apply Plast-aid to both sides when it is really wet and drippy. As Plast-aid thickens up, add more layers to strengthen the fix.
- ◄ How do I form Plast-aid?
- To hand form Plast-aid, mix it wet and dripping like normal. Wait until it starts to thicken. Once it no longer super sticky, you can hand form it into any shape that you would like.
- ◄What can I use to reinforce Plast-aid?
- Fiberglass tape, nails, or wire can be used to reinforce weak areas or pieces that are missing. In order for the reinforcement to be effective, completely saturate and embed it with Plast-aid. We sell fiberglass tape in our internet store.
- ◄How long does it take to dry?
- Plast-aid does not actually "dry". It goes through a chemical reaction, going from a liquid, to a paste, to a putty, to a clay, and then hard like a screwdriver handle. At the final stages, Plast-aid gives off heat and then cools down. At that point reaction is complete, which takes about 15 minutes.
- ▼Once Plast-aid is cured, how can I manipulate it?
- Once Plast-aid is cured it can be drilled, ground, filed, sanded, polished, painted, etc.
Clean Up:
- ◄How do I get Plast-aid off of places I don't want it?

- ◄How do I get Plast-aid out of my mix cup?
- Plast-aid does not chemically bond to the mix cup. Because the cup is flexible you can pop cured Plast-aid out of it. If for some reason you need more cups, we sell them along with the sticks in our web store.
